Test Match Cricket in India

Test Match Cricket in India

The steaming cauldrons of the sub continent were home of perhaps the greatest test series of all time.

In 2001, Australia led the 3 test series one nil and having just enforced the follow-on in the 2nd test, it appeared that they were set for their 1st series victory over Indians on foreign soil. What no one counted on was a 400 run partnership between Dravid & VVS Laxman that turned the game and the series on its head.

This historic stand ensured India won the 2nd test and changed the impetus of the series. They went on to win the thrilling 3rd test and in doing so created an enthralling rivalry between 2 of crickets heavyweights.

The rematch took place in the much vaunted 2004-05 series. This certainly lived up to expectation. This time round the Australians held their nerve and secured a historic series win.

In late 2008 the Aussies head back to the spinning wickets of India to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that they have held for the last 5 years. If the last 2 series in India are anything to go by, this tour is one not to be missed
